Do you want to know how an internal combustion engine works? How a cars electrical system works? How it starts? They are all intertwined contained by how a car works, but they all lift a while to explain. You need to be more specific.

Why does my furnace smell resembling adjectives...

air and fuel are combined in a cylinder and next compressed. A spark is introduced to the compressed a/f and it ignites, causing a downward push against the piston, which is what compressed the a/f. The downward motion of the piston is transferred to the crankshaft, which change it to a reciprocating motion. That recipricating motion transferred to a transmission, where on earth mechanical advantage is applied. That motion is tranferred to the differential which drives the wheel.
The engine in the car works by internal combustion small explosions created contained by each cylinder each time a cylinder get an explosion it forces the piston down and turns the crank shaft (all the pistons are connected to the crank shaft) the crank shaft is connected to the transmission which converts the turning crank shaft (by using a lot of gears) into power and turns the wheel and the car moves.. There is a lot more involved but the will distribute you a general idea.. hope this help
