tap it with a sledge hammer, but why do you want to make it bigger?, if it has a small crack within it now the insurance will get you a alien one.

Put your foot on the crack and gently push rather and then let step. Keep that up for a while, you know like in and out, within and out. It will crack, make sure you wipe the foot print off the windshield up to that time you go to the insurance company. You could also hold a cig lighter under the crack on a cold light of day or put ice on the crack from the outside and hold the lighter on the inside ,again, wash it after heat.
