Preferably own brand new oil transfer! If a "lot of miles on your oil", - it tends to build up acids and other "crud" that is not easy on internal parts and tends to "eat" up the bearing surfaces on crank and rods, - and camshaft also. With the aditives within oil, and better bearing alloys, - it isn't as discouraging as it was years ago,-- but it still happens to some extent! There are also extra chemical additives that you can tag on to "boost" the protection quality while it is sitting idle! Check auto supply store and see what they reccomend!
Now going on for the tires, - for the best protection, put car "up on blocks", - let the atmosphere out, and paint them with "tire paint" this gives them the most protection possible from oxidation defile! Just getting them off the ground without any solidity helps a lot! Letting the atmosphere out allows the rubber to contract and draws the molecules closer, which makes oxidation have smaller number chance to invade tire material. Painting seal the surface even more!
If you have a garage available it is nice to get it inside. In - or outside, it is better protected next to a car cover over it (keeps dirt and UV from damaging or dulling paint)!
And yes, if you can capture somebody to start and run the car for a while every 2-3 weeks (it would be of some help), - however it must get to full heat, and they need to run the airconditioner for a while too, (to keep the seal lubricated in the compressor)! Running the engine makes sure zilch sets up in carb bowl or fuel lines if some impurities are present, -- the turbulence of fuel flowing wash them on out and burns them!!
If you do these things, the only thing that can possibly ensue (that you can prevent),- is the car depreciates in convenience by the amount of time you are gone, - so that the resale value is a little smaller quantity, -- (but the condition of vehicle increases the "desireablility, - so the two may "wash"!!)
I have seen cars that set for 5-10 years this passageway, and still be driveable when "taken out of mothballs"!

Answers: Lucas G has it but from a ex army soldier that be in iraq in the precipitate 90s, I had my Dad run my car and it be just fine when I returned. Good luck and stay safe.

Mr Deviance is right, change your grease and add a half a quart of Lucas brand grease additive, it coats the internal surfaces of your engine to keep any surface rust from forming. Add some Stabil brand fuel stabilizer to your gas cistern. This will keep you gas from chemically deteriorating into turpentine or varnish.

you want to keep the grease and fluids circulating, your battery charged,and you want to keep condensation out of the motor. running the vehicle is the best way to do it. also: have some one turn on the A/C once a month for 10 minutes or so! that will hold the system lubed up and your seals will stay soft and doing their job.
hold them run the car until it is warmed up and no more moisture is coming out of the exhaust pipe- that will hang on to your exhaust from getting rusty as well, even if it's a stainless exhaust.

Put some fuel and oil stabilizer in it... pick up at local parts store. It is also not a fruitless idea to let for a time air out of the tires (keeps them soft, the rubber wont rot) but if its only 6 months you should be fine... By all funds put fuel stabalizer in gas, - make sure you run engine a few minutes to variety sure it gets into the fuel induction system! Reasons for this is that the gasoline (as they call it), - is "garbage"! I starts going "sour" surrounded by as little as 2 months! This is why so many lawnmowers are thrown away,- ( the carbureters get gummed up setting for winter)-and family don't know any better, - so they just buy new ones)!Preferably own brand new oil transfer!
