How do i stop my follower belt squeaking on vauxhall vectra 2.0 diesel 1997?

Car battery-operated storage?

Answers:    Man!! Can't you other answers come up with better suggestion than that? All of you just said tighten it up. Well, how tight is it supposed to be? What other factor will cause squeaking? Does it stop if you rev it up? Like, condensation of metal overnight can bring belt to slip when first started and ran contained by the first few minutes. Road water splashing alot contained by that area? Deeper river will get into engine compartment from self picked up by tires, air flow below hood may change if a splash sheild is removed, diluted etc. What changed, anything?

Most auto belts should have 1 inch play. Between pulleys push down next to one finger. It should flex about an inch. If you tighten belt and you hear a whining you did not enjoy before, its too tight and is stressing the alternator attitude. Loosen back up.

W-D 40 is hose soluble and will wash away surrounded by no time at all. So why use it? It won't protect for rust or lubrication because of that. Oil simply causes rubber to swell. I use a slab of soap as its running coating the inside. (Be careful doing that while running). Wax works pretty devout also. A candle or parafin block wax. Compared to a can of belt dressing the cost is like free. If the belt is ancient, replace it. It'll have cracks contained by it. The stitching some have will be frayed and fuzzy looking within spots.

What do I do if if bleed...

you have to take it tightened
