Answers: well i will assume the ground rules an dc arc welder, or a 50EN MIG Welder. if that is correct i wouldn't see it pushing 2mm gummy mild steel (thats at a real slow nurture rate) even at that thickness you will own seemingly poor bead penetration, my suggestion 1.5mm max.

LOL, 50 amp? maybe a metal that's 3/8 at the most. There are oodles welders for cheap at harbror freight, they're 110 volts so u can use it at home and they can weld up to 1/4 inch metal
