I bought a 2004 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged car fresh in 2004. The owner's instruction manual suggests running only PREMIUM position gas in it. I enjoy run mid grade since morning one. Is there really any difference surrounded by performance? I own never had any problems next to the engine and have never hear and "knocks" as the manual say you might hear if running less than PREMIUM category fuel. Thank you for all your answers.
Answers: Not a huge promise on conventional engines, but you have a supercharged engine, even beside retarded timing the cylinder pressures under full power might be too illustrious and you will get preignition. Basically the fuel ignite too soon and is working against the piston as the piston is traveling up, eventually this can break a rod or cause other blight. The engine designers and engineers who tested this engine came up next to the fuel requirement they did not make it up for no rationale.
