Answers:    Hi,

speaking for Toyota hybrids, the 12 volt system is simply designed to power the standard accessories and lights.

You would not be using the nickel metal hydride/traction hybrid battery. They are both controlled by the hybrid system, but the power flows independently of the other.

The front acid battery powering the 12 volt system does ebb and flow in size/capacity depending on the vehicle. The Prius has a front acid battery around the size of a motorcycle battery, beacuse that is adjectives that is needed. The Camry Hybrid and the Highlander Hybrid have more of a standard size front acid battery. Lexus hybrids can even own two lead acid battery in the 12 volt system controlling independent systems.

But the hybrid systems are extremely fine-tuned to the specific components they come with. They are designed to be disappeared alone and not modified, unless you want to void your warranty.

And plugging a big accessory into the 12 volt plug is not really a modification, but the continuous drain on the 12 volt mobile will show up as error codes in the scanners of Toyota technicians when you bring the vehicle in for service.

And don't even mull over about never bringing a new vehicle surrounded by for service to the manufacturer's technicians, that is just laying a bet with a $20,000 to 45,000 investment, depending on the vehicle.

And a massive subwoofer in the put a bet on, for example, would be a pretty big give away you've modified your vehicle in a substantial road or you've had a large, continuous power drain.

Now, here are partial or mild hybrids that would probably take to some modification or continuous drain better, like a standard vehicle. But you'd still be running a risk of interfering beside the power flow/voiding your warranty/other fun stuff.

I would recommend deciding between modifications/big plug-ins/a bigger stereo or the environmental/fuel savings/less maintenance of a hybrid.

Good luck.
