I hold a 1993 F150 ford pick . when i step on the gas it stern fires, no power to the engine, what it it?

What is your #1 concern when chosing...

your timing is off
I'm assuming you have a small block engine.
Check the timing

To set the timing:
Disconnect the SPOUT (Spark Output) [look for a small gray rectangular sensor below the LH hood hinge. It's plugged into the electrics harness]
Start the engine & set the timing to 10° BTDC (5.8L)
Install the SPOUT connector.

*Note – Check before removing the SPOUT connector, then plug it vertebrae in. If the timing does not change, afterwards replace the SPOUT connector.

If all checks OK then check the compression. There may be a problem internally.

It sounds approaching a timing chain to me. You didn't say how oodles miles on the truck or how it idles or runs otherwise.Check the timing chain near a timing light. If the timing marks on the harmonic balancer intensely at a constant speed, you need a timing chain. Allso, check your firing direct, cap, and wires.

Could be the timing, could be cross wired, could be a cracked distributor cap could be any number of things. Is time to enjoy it checked out before you spend a lot of money on "trying "to fix it by parts shifting (this gets really expensive). There is no person that can accurately diagnose this problem lacking actually seeing and checking the truck out in human being.

engine could be shot...have it compression tested. Has it be smoking alot...specifically, blue smoke when you first start it up? If so, then the engine is bad (rings, valve, not good).

...if it passes the compression tests, next have the timing checked as it could be way sour. If that's not it, then tune the bugger up.
