Fix the coolant leak, if you're lucky it's just a hose. Check the small coolant lines too, not of late the main hoses going to the radiator.
Answers: If the coolant surrounded by your car was not competent to protect your engine in severe cold, you have a problem. Sometimes what happen is that the thermostat freezes, and bends, and can't do it's job. Hopefully, you have never taken this coup¨¦ to a quick lube or other place that doesn't use genuine BMW coolant. If you did, you may own more problems than you think. When in doubt, hold the BMW dealer inspect it. Chances are that you have not cause any engine damage, yet, so don't pilfer any more chances. You might want to have your engine creek shampooed at a car wash to create things easier to see. Good Luck!
