It (mpg) constantly fluxuates as I'm driving( never did that before) and the battery died so I replaced it. But want to know why is it jumping up and down so much whereas later week it stayed at a constant 23.9mpg?
you may want to check the alternator belt for tighteness, and or own it checked, it sounds like your having an electrical flunctuation problem. also check the battery-operated cables and the body and engine block grounds.
Answers: Same thing happened to me on my '05 when I have Ford replace my battery a few weeks ago. FREAKED ME OUT!
As I drive more miles, the fluctuation is settling back down to typical as the computer gathers data. It's presently back to where it be.
Don't let it worry you, it'll settle out as you drive.

When the foreign battery was put on. The electrical connectors on the mobile terminals must of been put on loose and nearby might be some corrosion on it as well. take it and own the computer scanned on it that will tell you what might own happened to it,sometimes changing the freestyle can take some time for the computer to -re-set its self, but if you have it scan this may help determine what is causing that,i hold seen those do that before ,and for no object, then they would straiten up and be fine, but any of the parts stores will scan it for you,and this might help you see whats going on next to it,something like a sensor may be going bad on it,and that would effect that too happen ,good luck.
