I have need of sports car minister to!!?

The timing belt in my 2002 Kia went out today while I be on the freeway. I had it towed to the dealership and they said the engine was toast. A rebuild engine costs $4000...I doubt the car is even worth that...so I guess my question is: Will a rebuild engine be reliable and last...or should I just bring back a whole new vehicle?? Any advice is appreciated.thanks everyone :-)

How do you fix coup¨¦ doors that...

Yeah, rebuilt is fine. (But you can do it your self for 1k.)

Silly mechanics :p
4000 sounds for a while strong for replacing the timing belt. I do not know if the Kia engine is an interference engine or not.

Call another garage or shop and compare prices. You may be able to get the work done cheaper.

virtuous luck.

I would get a spanking new car, since its going to cost you $4000. I mean you find the excitingness of picking out a new car, and perchance what you get will be better than what you had since. What I do in these situations is make a record of the positive things and negative things and see which one weighs out more. Like account all the good things roughly speaking getting a different car and list the gloomy things about it.

Half a knob stuck within the ignition?

How many miles on the car? Any other problems. Why is the engine "toast"? What I expect by that, is what damage was done to the engine. Usually when a timing belt go out, the most damage that can be done is bent valves. This is usually call a "top end" job. Or simly re-doing the heads.

If the miles aren't too oodles and the car's been good, consequently consider using an independent shop to get the heads redo.
buy a used engine for less than a thousand.

Your first step MUST be take Your sports car out of there and get a second evaluation.
since the moment that mechanic hasn't present all the possibles solutions,is unreliabe.
the junk courtyard have some cars wrecked by the rear ending. and the engines are pretty good.

final approach...$4000.00 dollars and IS NOT TOAST? comeon!
head block reform is more or less 240.00 plus gaskets and labor ..
I think He want You to influence ...KEEP THE CAR.
Did you read the owners manual in the glove box where on earth it clearly says the timing belt needs to be replaced at a specified interval? See, don't forget to read everything. That's how you return with yourself into trouble if you don't read the fine print. If you performed proper maintenance on your motor you would still have it now. Don't filch this the wrong way and no offense but it's your own fault.

Your automatic nouns is overdue for a fluid flush by the way. Without it your transmission solitary lasts a quarter of the life span it would usually go for if taken care of properly.

Your KIA have a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. But if proper maintenance hasn't been kept, after your warranty is void. And rightly so. This was clearly not KIA's condemn. They are not the only car initiator that produces an "Interference Engine" with a timing belt. VW does this too.

When your timing belt snapped. Your combustion chamber valves crashed into your pistons because they share duplicate space but they are never supposed the occupy the same space inside the chamber at the same exact time. That's what that rubber timing belt be for. But since it broke, your valves and pistons were free to do anything they considered necessary to do for a minute or two resulting in a total engine loss. If the belt were replaced at the programmed replacement time according to your owners manual; this would have never happen.

If the belt broke before the scheduled upkeep time, the damages would of been covered under KIA's fair warranty.

Fluid contained by fuel container?

Answers:    seize the car out of there.. These guys hold never heard of a salvaged engine. I use profoundly of salvaged engines in my shop I replace the hose down pumps as a normal item I charge 1500-2000 for the swap the engine for that car will run you in the order of 400 bucks. and the salvage yard will usually guarantee it for up to 12 mos. 12,000 miles, if the shop doesn't want to do that tell them they enjoy to or give you your car to bring somewhere else. OH it is the dealership, get it out of there, it will be worth it to whip it to an independent repair shop. they aren't filling the pockets of overpriced executives, I know I own one... A shop not an executive!!
