1997 Poniac Grand Am,Quad4. Timing jumped. Had to have motor rebuild. When she purchased the car the key would stick and she would enjoy to jiggle it to crank the car. The mechanic needed to crank the car and couldn't. He took the ignition apart trying to be capable of get a screw driver in the switch to crank it. Now everything is suppose to be fixed, near the exception of the car won't stay running. It will run for about 3-4 minutes and shut stale. The mechanic said it is the anti-theft kicking in and the only path to fix it is to get a new "exact ignition system" with the original push button to it and then to get the industrial company to re-program the computer. I have been told by several society that a 97 Poniac does not have an anti-theft system in it. Does anyone enjoy any idea if it actually does and/or what could possibly be the purpose it will not stayed running. Thank you all in credit.
