Is it mundane for adjectives three catalyst converters run out on a 2003 Jeep Liberty at indistinguishable time?

I was driving my car and it sounded similar to I was dragging something underneath. I took it to my regular mechanic and he told me that the catalyst converter (not one, or two but all three be bad). I wanted to find if this is normal? It's a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport, next to 89,000 miles. I drive it about 80-100 miles a day work and around living nouns. No off road activity. Could this be defective. I checked the federal emission law but it covers up to 8 years or 80,000 miles.
