I bought this, sight unseen and it does own a few issues. I'm not a dummy and can do most of the stuff that needs to be done but, I'm have trouble finding complete exhaust systems for the 2.6 liter 4 Cyl, FI engine. Another problem is the wiring for the dome pale that doesn't work. Tried to trace it and fuse is fine but no light. HELP!! Have a Chilton's workshop almanac, am looking through that to try to locate the problem area. Any relief would be appreciated. Thanks, Rick
Answers: Have you checked with Isuzu for the exhaust components? If they no longer supply them at the dealer or are too expensive, you may be capable of locate a used one on http://www.car-part.com or perhaps from other owners who commonly frequent forums that are specific for your model/year Isuzu.
As for the motor light, it's credible a wiring issue or a an oxidized connector. Also check that you or a previous owner didn't put in something that required them to tap the electrical system for the light. These commonly used tap's will frequently oxidize or break the electrics and cause fault like you describe (an amenable or grounded circuit).
Sometimes aftermarket alarms are triggered by these
Can you describe what you did to trace it?
Did you check for voltage at the light socket? Did you get something done resistance checks to verify wiring is apt?
As for the chilton's manual, please undergo in mind that the actual manufacturer service manual is usually contains substantially more details that an owner can use than any other after bazaar manual alternative (even the manual non-dealer mechanic's use). Of course the service manual is usually much more expensive than a Chilton's/Haynes alternative but it's in good health worth the cost if you plan on doing your own maintenance and repairs.
