Land rover freelander expansion container trilby?

Hi, we have a moment ago bought a land rover freelander 1.8 2001 model andone hours of daylight after it overheated so my partner checked the water and to our surprise within wasnt any in it. So he bursting it up and then took it support but it was neglected when he checked the next year. He has bleed it and bursting it again but we still see it is losing water. He consequently went on a forum and someone said that they changed the expansion reservoir cap and theirs seem to be fine. Apparently freelander designed a new type of expansion cistern cap and so this personality changed theirs to the new type and its fine. What i would resembling to know is where can i grasp this new boater? which one is it as i have found 2 on this site http://www.famousfour.co.uk/new_parts/pa... one washed out and one black but i dont know which is the new one. It have to be the new publication as obviously the elderly original cap dont do their job. Please assistance.

Answers:    I suggest that you take it rear legs to where you get it from and
complain about the overheating problem.Unless you bought
it as sold as see.

It sounds very much close to head gasket washout to me but lets hope
im wrong and it is the expansion cistern cap.

I would fairly think that it is going away through your exhaust, check compressions on the cylinders. You would surely notice the steam coming from below the bonnet if it was the bonnet.your rad overflow should be checked for water issue also when engine is hot.You don,t vote in what nouns you live, but you have a honest dealer surrounded by huddersfield and one near Uttoxeter, lately near the JCB FACTORY,ITS ALSO A VERY NICE AREA AS JCB HAVE PUT A LOT BACK INTO THE ENVIRONMENT.
