Linkage problem?

I have a 1990 toyota celica. The engine be replaced with a 2.2 l from a 93 celica. Ever since later when you shift into 5th gear it pops out. When its in gear it works fine, no noise, but you have to hold it within. Is this because of the new engine be installed wrong, or at least hooked to the tranny wrong? What should i do something like this?

Changing the grease within my 97 VW...

Answers:    Possible your shifty linkage needs adjust - it may not be engaging 5th completely, and the internal thrust forces are pushing it spinal column out of gear. Otherwise, your gearbox is worn out. Inside, between the gears and the casing, is a brass thrust washer. This absorb side forces when the gearbox is under nouns. When they wear out, there is too much slack and the gears enjoy room to move sideways under nouns. Once there is ample room, they'll move far enough to completely disengage. I have the same problem on my classic Mini - and everything be OK again after replacing the washers. it's a pain within the neck to fix, however - it mechanism stripping the gearbox down completely.

God luck!

most likely, the motor more after likely is not pool liner up with your pressure plate on your clutch, my counsel would be to take it stern to the individual that made the repair and have them fix it over( for nothing) earlier you do significant damage to your tranny which is expensive to replace
