Loud metal resonance contained by rudder?

I was freshly putting my winter tires on and when I was done and I moved the sports car, I noticed a tremendously loud metal to metal noise contained by the left front rudder. I took it back apart and thought it be the metal shield behind the rotor. Upon furthur investigation, It seem that when I tighten the lug nuts, they rub on something inside the rotor I think, making this loud jingle. It's like the nuts are too long or something, but they are indistinguishable ones that were on formerly. So now I'm not going to drive it until I find out what it is, and I really can't afford to put any money into it. The saloon is a 91 BMW 3 series if it matters. Please give a hand!

Answers:    Check that you have the correct wheel. Remove the wheel from the side that be rubbing. Check the inside of the rim. It may be contacting the caliper.

Check the wheel and the bolt holes guardedly. Something is different or damaged>
