Lx176 john deere problem.?

i was plowing ten inches of snow near my lawn tractor and adjectives of a sudden a grinding noise started. i go forward and it just stoped. what is wrong near it? sounded kinda like the trans but the put money on wheeles were also locked up.

Ahh, the 176, beside that crappy hydrostatic drive. Could be a few things in that tractor in actuality.

The rear axle assembly have a differential type unit that could've blown out (most potential with the agency you described the sound), the transaxle is hydrostatic and those are not easy to diagnose minus seeing them first hand - or the drive belt itself broke which you'd be capable of see real slickly under the tractor.

If I have to guess, I'd say it'd the differential on the backside axle - you'll probably have to whip it to a John Deere dealer (or other shop) to enjoy it repaired.
