155*** miles 1988 Ponitac Fiero 2.5L 5 speed manual. Runs rough and doesn't want to dance forward. I had the codes read and it said that the MAP sensor be low. I replaced the sensor thinking it might be bad. It seem to run ok as long as your not trying to get up to speed. And its agency to damn slow going up hills. It's close to it's getting to much gas or to much air. I would close to to know what the hell "MAP sensor low" means.
MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor "reads" the intake's vacuum....so why do they phone up it PRESSURE when it measures vacuum? Because automotive engineers are smarty-pants!
Seriosly though....by the description of the fault code and your description of how your Pontiac runs, I'd influence you have a vacuum percolate somewhere on your engine. Finding it may be a chore, since this engine has like mad of different places it can develop a leak.
You can try the spray bottle full of river, spray down the top of the engine while it is running and listen for a noticeable hissing rumbling.
You can try spraying carb cleaner around the top of the engine and listen for the engine to suddenly increase in r.p.m.'s BUT I don't recommend this one because you could greatly possibly cause a fire and/or pick up yourself on fire....
Get yourself a foot long piece of rubber hose, place one downfall to your ear (not IN your ear!) and probe around the running engine next to the other end. If you hear a loud SUCKING crash, you have found your vacuum discharge.
BE EXTRA CAREFUL to avoid the moving components of the running engine.
Hope this helps....
AC if you don't hold nothing apt to answer then simply don't u piece of sht..
Did you replace the Mass air flow sensor? Was it latest or used, sometimes it's not the sensor itself but a circuit, you have to check your flex harness..
Take it to a electric professional, and have him check the lead harness, reset the computer for previous codes, he should check for resistance, volts amps etc..
Answers: try a fuel pump
