My 1999 Olds 88 at times stalls or rpms surge when engine is cold.?

Sometimes it does not stall but the rpms surge just as if I have pressed the accelerator pedal. The surge of rpms only ultimate for a second and then everything is put a bet on to normal. It does this simply about every morning after driving the sports car for five minutes. It never stalls or has this strange surge of rpms when the engine is hot. I have changed the plugs and ignition wires. No error codes when I scan the computer and the coup¨¦ has 120K miles.

Appreciate any facilitate I can get on this.

A brake conclusion, if you will.?

Answers:    What engine does it own? A common bomb for GM is a defective idle control motor (IAC) cause it to hunt for the correct rpm when idling especially when cold and does not create an error code rotten the ECM.

A faulty oxygen sensor will endow with you a diagnostic code 13, 44, or 45 on a 88' 3.8L depending on the exact problem with the O2 sensor. Recheck for codes at the DLC connector (note ECM will retain previous codes save reset)

Heater Core Leak?

Code errors pertain mostly to air pollution control sensors etc. surging sounds approaching the engine is not getting enough fuel, i.e. not rich adequate, or has a vacuum overflow. You need a mechanic to trouble shoot to determine root explanation.
