THE CAR WONT GO INTO THE HIGH GEARS WITHOUT MASHING HARD ON THE GAS AND THEN IT GEARS DOWN REALLY HARD WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN. WHAT COULD THIS BE? WE HAVE CHANGED THE FLUID AND FILTER.

I wouldnt call it 'typical Ford BS' as 15 years is a flawless amount of time for a transmission. Many Honda Accord trannies cant even kind it to 40k miles, at least Ford is prearranged for recalling their problematic parts instead of ignore them (again the Accord-for years there be a major problem near them not engaging contained by Park properly and rolling away).
