My fiat bravo 1.8 hlx wont start, rac reckon its the switch chip - best fix?

i do not have another key except the standard blue one, do i need to have ecu wipe and new keys?, can the ecu hold the immobiliser function disabled? could it be something else wrong?, car cranks over but do not attempt to start, rac checked to see if fuel getting thru and tested the crank sensor, he reckons the injection is kaput thus blaming the key, there is no knob light on dash at adjectives and the injectors light is permanently on.
Help!

Do I involve to replace the belt...

NEW CAR
Personally I doubt if it's the key chip. They tend not to fail unless the key's be damaged, perhaps be dropped, stood on etc. I'd suggest you start by ringing a Fiat garage, speak to the service people and see what they say.

fiat imoblizers can only be repaired by fiat if it is the push button the car has to move about in to the agents you will need to buy onther knob and have it and your old push button reprogramed if the car is older that 2000 fiat may enjoy no have details of the car if latter they will have the details on computor if they dont have them and you dont enjoy the big red master key they have to fit a topical imobilizer

Is it true?

if i remember correctly the blue push button will only trigger the immobiliser for ten thousand times before need re programing, without the red key its a suitcase of new locks and keys and ecu.in the order of lb500 .try contacting frank Massey who writes in "car mechanics" magazine.well brought-up luck.

Answers:    Hi
Immobiliser can't be bypassed, i would say-so it is something else wrong, chips don't tend to go wrong unless key is dropped heavilly.
Easiest fix would be win it to a garage for them to deal with but cheapest would be to find a sliver bravo, very similar year, same engine size and get the ecu and transponder read box, along with the key/s and ignition barrel / lock and swap it adjectives onto your car, i did this once and it cost me lb40 for all the bits.
It's a honourable bit of messing but is cheap.
A decent locksmith like Andrews locksmiths within Bristol carries a transponder copier which can be used to tell if your push button is faulty or not, i would go this road first as if you get new push button and reprogramme ecu etc or do what i said above and it still won't start you'll not be happy.
There are people around which can come out to replace your push button and reprogramme. have a look at locksmiths in washed out pages.
Without looking at the car i can't support you more but money will have to be spent somewhere, hope it's not too much
