Mystery Smoke? Suggestions?

Pontiac Grand Am GT 1997 2.4L 4cylinder

Used to leak coolant, replaced cracked radiator and hose. Pressure test passed. No more distinct leaks or constantly low coolant levels.

Starts smoking when it get hot, coming from the drivers side portion of the engine. Pretty much odorless, white and hard to see without the right feathery. Gets worse when car runs longer.

My assumption, being that this is an dated beater, is that oil on the engine is burning and causing the smoke. Perhaps even a small grease leak. I will be cleaning the engine shortly, but any suggestions or supporting opinions will back greatly.

I have searched knotty and cannot find a leak source.

Thanks

could be an oil leak but i'd check the freezeplug clandestine behind the engine mount. thats probably where the seepage is from.

Look for a small trace of an grease leak. Start at the bottom and work your way up. If you not long had an oil revision, they may have spilled some oil onto the block and to be precise what is burning off.

Answers:    Best bet is to clean the engine thoroughly, run it for a while and check it again. If it is a slick it should be easy to spot, once the engine is clean. Clean engines run cooler also.
