I have be trying to help a friend. He have a 1990 Olds cutlass supreme with a 3.1 lite V-6 engine.
The sports car has be sitting for 5 years, the engine was removed by another entity and parts were dotted all over.
He have an engine built for this car by an engine shop that I own now installed, It will crank fine but does not fire. Every once contained by a while it seems similar to it hits on a cylinder but it goes no further. It is getting fuel to the fuel rail as I checked the lines and we can hear the fuel pump run.
I have have the ignition module checked and it is fine. It just seem like it may be an ignition issue, but I dont know what else I can check.
this engine is literally stuffed surrounded by by GM, and there is little room, but adjectives the wiring harmesses seem to lay out after it was installed so I am reasonaby convinced they are in the correct position, I own triple checked the spark plug wires for proper cylinder orientation.
We took a fuel taster and it was yellowed but still smelled strong
Like the other guy said, the gas have gone sour and will not burn. drain the tank , add on fresh gas, and some gas line antifreeze to go and get rid of any water that may be within the tank.

The shelf duration for gasoline is about a year depending on humidity and warmth. Dump the tank and flush the fuel system. It wouldnt hurt to run some injector cleaner thru it after you procure it running.
There are very volatile lofty flash point chemicals that will evaporate and you'll never know by the smell. The odor is put in within at the refinery to smell like that no event what so you will know when there is gas around you. The smell is a sanctuary feature.
Answers: another possibility is that the spigot adjustment may be off, too tight is most potential, no compression, it will not run.
