Neon Light.?

I just purchased a Neon light for my sports car, originally the connection went as follows. Cigarette lighter---->Transformer(12V converted to 1500V/15mA---->Neon Light. However, I didn't want any wires apparent anywhere near the center console so I clipped the power adapter off that plugs into the cigarette lighter. I've already tested the bulb near (2) 9V batteries and everything checked out when I ran the nouns in a series. Okay now for the complicated stuff. I hold the perfect spot under the hood of the vehicle for it. Should I hook up the wires directly to the sports car battery with an on/off switch thrown contained by there somewhere. If not where should I telecommunication to get power from? Also, should I put a in-line fuse somewhere in the nouns? Any better ideas then what I hold come up with? Thanks.

Answers: never connect anything directly to the battery.run it through the fuse panel. Always hold a fuse in a new circuit.
