Just fitted 2 new tyres, the date code on them (DOT) is 5007, so they were made within December 2007. My neighbour tells me that tyre rubber is harder if you keep the tyres a couple of years earlier fitting them. Is this nonsense or will my recently-made tyres be softer and wear out more quickly?
it depends on how you store them if you hold on to them in a dry place like inside near no moisture they should have a good shelf energy
Answers: No, by letting them sit, you could run out up with dry-rot problems. The tires are cured at the factory, so there is no "sitting time" required.
