Ok, This problem has occur during my last 4 grease changes. After I hold an oil transmutation the pressure drops and eventually comes back after a few miles, simply to about 1/4 average pressure. Mechanic said that engine was full of sludge. Have be flushing the system with detergent every grease change and it hasn't gotten any better. Yesterday have oil changed and pressure is at 0 and pops up extraordinarily rarely. added marine foam to see if that would help but haven't notice much difference. Today engine started knocking so I stopped it. Should I try finding a mechanic that can do a pressurized flush or what should my subsequent step be. I don't want to drive the poor thing or it will blow. Dodge dakota 2001 6cyl. HELP
Answers: it sounds close to the oil pump be going out and finally went I would replace the grease pump before it does core damage, Hopefully it's not to slowly you should also replace the rod bearings and the crucial bearings also because they may enjoy been worn out by running it with no grease pressure.
In response to your new details
I would carry some engine flush from the parts store, the kind that you make a payment to your oil and run it for a partly hour to an hour and then drain and restock, I would do this at every oil make over and to help remove and prevent sludge I would do this every 2000 miles, after 4 or 5 grease changes you should be capable of go backbone to changing your grease every 3000, by the way be you using Pennzoil or Quaker state? If you were I would STOP and use castrol or Mobile.
Sounds resembling your oil pump is going doomed to failure. Have it towed to a shop you trust and get it checked out.
