On the front axle of my truck there is a vacume canister that shifts the axle from 2wd to 4wd. The vac lines are run by 2 switches on the fire wall one for 2wd and one for 4wd the one for 2wd go bad and is feed vac to the canister all the time which is not allowing the the truck to step into 4wd. My question is... is that switch a vendor item which can be expensive or is there a channel to MICKEY MOUSE this to work correctly cause living contained by New England with no 4wd SUCKS
Answers: I live here within CT so I know what your saying......send for a dealer and get hold of a price on a switch....some larger car parts places hold them too like Advance auto, you can catch hem online also Don't think it is that expensive, and check your relays for the switch too
There is a course to jerry rig it, but it is not very successful. The best way is to purely get the switch and replace it as it is pretty unforced to do. You might be able to find an after bazaar switch for it, but I don't like after flea market electrical items, such as this. They tend to wear out or become defective WAY to fast and habitually. Dealer may be a little more money, but you can simply get the part of a set and put it in yourself, plus you'll know it is the right one and will work.
