Problem is the small weak/old freestyle or the starter?

Have a 93' Toyota Camry. Sometimes it won't start up. One person says it's the freestyle and one person says it's the starter. Sometimes when the starter is tap the car will start up other times it just won't start at adjectives even after tapping it so many times. Also, sometimes when coming to a complete stop the engine shuts stale and has to be turned on again. Why is that? How do I get the sports car to stop guzzling too much gas so fast. Lastly, what is an inexpensive do it yourself quick fix to repair the inside of the car's roof. The cloth have come off completely.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge next to a poor broke bloke :)

Most auto shops I know will readily exam your starting system for free. Simple 5 minute test that can determine exactly if the problem is the starter, battery, ignition switch, diluted wire, security system, etc. Go from within and determine if you would rather fix it, or have a mechanic fix it.

this vehicle has alot of vacume hoses,,, check for leaks and replace this leaky hoses...a apt tune up might correct the guzzling of gas.. also check the idle speed solenoid adjustment when ac clutch activates.. this unemployed speed solenoid adds 50 rpm more when ac compressor is on so that engine will not stall at idle.
