Hello there peoples I got a situation on my hand that needs to be dealt beside asap. I have a 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5s with 111,075 miles on it. The engine is not within great shape due to the cat. converter backfiring and tearing up the insides of the engine and Nissan doesn’t even want to be at knock for that when they have had numerous recall on the 03 2.5s edition. The vehicle is payed off and I’m looking to get a remanufactured engine rear into the car rather than buying a brand new car with a monthly donation and all. But on top of adjectives that this summer I am getting a TT MK4 supra and have no plans to use it as a daily driver, I would use the Altima for that. I entail to make a good coherent decision asap because me and my wife are only sharing one vehicle and that can be frustrating at times when one person needs to stir here while the other person needs to do as okay. The engine still turns on the PSI ratio for all 4 cylinders is around 135, I know that’s not good but it’s not my idiosyncrasy continuing..
Answers: I have a 2002/3 altima 92,000 miles , and yes the Cat. does have a problem. 4 months ago the lead gasket blew and cause a big problem with coolant leak and engine sputter. We paid $1400 to get it fixed and inside 2 months the engine light came on and we be loosing about 1 quart of oil per 100 or so miles. I get pissed and went back to the broker who did some more tests and the MGR. called me rear legs and He told me I needed a new engine and it was up within in price. He wasn't even going to tell me more or less the recall until I told him I knew. That's when he come clean with me proverb that it was the pre-cat that caused the gasket to founder and the engine to start crapping out. He deducted the price we paid for the gasket charge and then told me Nissan will pay 1/2 for the unsullied engine leaving us with a $800 bill to pay envelope. Nissan didn't even try to send us a letter on the take back so how were we to know. I shouldn't have to remuneration for a new engine if it not even my fault. In my assessment I believe you should call Nissan at 1-8OO-647-7261 and tell them whats going on and they requirement to fix or help fix the problem.
