i got the olds ones off by jackin my gearstick up abit and using my jack handle wedged between the steering arm and the bubble joint to pop it out the the arm. when i jack my tire it lifts crooked(as the bottem arm isn't connected) and i cann't appear to make enuff space to push the ball common shaft into the steerin knuckle agian.
Should i 1) loosen my suspension arm abit (so it drops more, as i can move it only about an inch next to a wedged bar) 2) remove the tie rod end for more play 3)just jack the tire elevated enuff to point the ball joint shaft towards the steering knuckle hole and kinda shoulder it surrounded by as i lower the jack?? any idea would nice.
Don't undo any other parts. It will merely lead to more trouble. Jack up the tyre carefully until the globe joint fits back into the steering knuckle. The spring will compress adequate and get to the stage of just in the region of wanting to lift the car up but will work.
Answers: You are not doing this properly. Spring pressure is making things ******. The spring should be compressed with a tool to do this. You can vandalize the threads on the ball stud.
