I have a chevy van with inline 6 and 1 butt rochester bc carb this is different than the m mv carb. This carb has a choke pulloff ( vacuum controlled ) and also a choke which is thermostatically controlled ( or divorced choke) I just lately rebuilt carb got fresh choke pulloff . Now I need to replace choke. My question is how difficult is it to a short time ago put on a manual choke on this. I know you have to progress way back surrounded by your mind for this one as everything nowadays is just any Fuel injected or mabye quadrajet
I appreciate any answers
the hardest part is running the choke cable, right along beside your throttle, jc whitney will probably have just what you call for, but go back a few years to approaching 64 or 65 for the length you need and when manual choke be the norm.
Answers: Very easy. The manual choke kit they sell at the aftermarket auto parts stores have several ways of connecting the cable terminate to the linkage that used to be controlled by the automatic controlling mechanism. You will need a hole surrounded by the firewall near your feet between the inside hackney carriage and the engine compartment and a hole to run your manual choke mounting through.

most manual choke conversions used a cover to replace thermostat spring so choke control shaft go through and had some type of lever that opperated choke and replacement houseing had bracket to hold cable and lever on shaft extension be pulled on and pushed off by cable that was contained by spiral caseing so it could be pulled and pushed without collapeing have not see in many yrs you might shift to old napa store or tractor store for cable choke coversion old carb rebuilder angelic luck you may be able to make you own lots little brackets etc and lots of brain farts and beer

Not tough at all, but if the thermostat choke works, what's the point. What goes wrong near those is the copper tube that goes from the top of the exhaust manifold into the compound spring housing. Just stick a piece of tubing within there and make sure some hot exhaus get into that black plastic gizmo. It'll workWhat is this section on my '93...
