Ok, so I got the code run on the olds '96 Silhouette, and it came backbone as this P1441. The tech at the auto shop who ran it for me said he wasn't familiar beside the code and to call O'Reilly's. Called O'Reilly's and the kid hasn't gotten back to me so, can any of you motor slueths out there give me a clue?
Is it a serious or spendy repair??
This a manufacture specific code. The P1441, the first one (1) money that Olds. has a specific thing that this code scheme, now what I do not know. Call your local Oldsmobile or Chevy dealer for this information.
Answers: this DTC indicates that an evap system purge flow be seen by the vehicles PCM ( computer ) during a non purge condition.
Simply put the EVAP purge spigot was open when it should not enjoy been. Likely a mechanical anticlimax of the purge valve.
This repair should not be too expensive .
goood luck

It's a code for your EVAP system. This system circulates the gas fumes from your gas reservoir into the engine so you don't release unburned fumes into the air. It's the reason why you can park it within your garage and not smell like a lawnmower.
Did you fill up your gas reservoir right before you got this code? If so, check to craft sure your gas cap is tight. If not, it could be a broken vacuum line or your charcoal canister. Either of those would probably cost to repair considering some time would be spent trying to find the problem. It will not hurt the vehicle to drive it w/ this code, BUT it is piece of the emissions system and will need to be repaired until that time you get the car inspected. It will come to nothing w/ an emissions related code.
Call us at AutoZone and tell us over the phone your take home, year and model car. Give us the code and we will tell you exactly what it is FREE!!
Be sure to ask for an estimate for the diagnostics, and then an estimate for the repairs.

Engine coolant warmth above 60°C (140°F).
After the engine has been running roughly 3 minutes on a cold start or 20 seconds on a warm start.
Canister purge PWM duty cycle vary according to operating conditions determined by mass air flow, fuel trim, and. intake air heat. Canister purge will be disabled if Throttle Position (TP) angle increases to above 51%. Canister purge will be re-enabled when TP angle decreases below 49%. The EVAP purge vacuum switch is a normally closed switch positioned within the purge line between the canister and the EVAP purge solenoid. The EVAP purge vacuum switch will open when vacuum increases to greater than 5 inches of hose down (in. H2O) in the purge line. The PCM monitors the EVAP purge vacuum switch signal to determine if the evaporative discharge control system is working properly. If the switch is open (purge flow detected) when the PCM is not commanding the EVAP purge solenoid ON, DTC P1441 will be set.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
No TP sensor, IAT sensor, MAP sensor, ECT sensor, or MAF sensor DTCs set.
BARO reading is greater than 70 kPa.
Engine Coolant Temperature is less than 114°C (237°F).
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor indicates an ambient warmth between 10°C (50°F) and 70°C (158°F).
The difference between ECT and IAT is less than 10°C (18°F).
Throttle angle is between 2.5% and 55%.
Engine speed is between 550 rpm and 5000 rpm.
EVAP Purge PWM is below 3%.
EVAP purge vacuum switch is open.
Above conditions for longer than 4 second.

This code is GM specific, and relates to auxiliary emission. If you are unfamiliar with OBD II or proper diagnosis and repair of emission faults, it will most likely set free you money to take the car to a QUALITY repair shop, ideally one that specializes within emissions diagnostics and repairs.Be sure to ask for an estimate for the diagnostics, and then an estimate for the repairs.

Crackling/clicking racket (Astra Coupe)?
Canister purge is controlled by an EVAP purge solenoid spout that allows manifold vacuum to purge the canister. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) supplies a ground to energize the EVAP purge solenoid tap (purge ON). The EVAP purge solenoid control is Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) or turned ON and OFF several times a second. The PCM controlled PWM output is commanded when the following conditions have been met:Engine coolant warmth above 60°C (140°F).
After the engine has been running roughly 3 minutes on a cold start or 20 seconds on a warm start.
