i have a 1995 chevy lumina and i jus recently go 2 get an oil coppers, and like usually the guy told me i should get a nouns flush, but i heard it can ruin the trans...i have 11300 miles and the trans fluid color be pretty dark compared to the fresh stuff. Will it ruin my trans?
in truth yes and no. If in the transmission if you do not see any metal peices come out consequently leave the fluid alone. Because the transmission runs better next to the original fluid. What you should do and make sure you are doing it according to the owners manuel is to supply transmission fluid. If you change it out and put current in then you can expect problems

Answers: well yes you will tattered the tranny if the shop flush your transmission fluid. if the previous owners never changed the fluids on the car prior to you buying it. but near is a way to change your fluid near out flushing it. get a good mechanic to jack the motor up drop the tranny pan. check for metal shavings. now if you dont enjoy any metal shaving in the pan after you can change the fluid and the tranny filter. and put the pan hindmost on and be good to go. but if you hold metal shaving in the pan your goose is cook. move off it alone and start saving for another tranny. anyway changing your fluid by dropping the container would be fine. but there will still be some old tranny fluid vanished in the torque converter that will mix with the involve fluid once the car is started. this shop that is offering to flush your tranny should know this. ask them if they could drop the vessel for you instead of flushing it. unless they are willing to by you a new tranny after they flush it i would not permit them do it.
