Should my tires be at the max PSI?

They are Goodyear Assurance tires, not the original tires on the sports car. The only point (regarding pressure) on the tire is 45 max PSI. Should I keep it here since it generally rides capably?

Also, is it better to keep tire pressure a bit lower for better traction in the winter?

This is what Goodyear, the people who made your tires enjoy to say, taken directly from their trellis site:

"Proper inflation is the single most important fragment of tire care. The inflation pressure on the side of the tire is the MAXIMUM operating pressure. It is not necessarily the right inflation for your vehicle. Always use the inflation recommended by the vehicle businesswoman. You can find it in your owner's almanac, posted on the edge of the driver's door, on a door post or on the inside of the glovebox door. Always check inflation when tires are COLD: when the vehicle have been driven smaller number than a mile or one hour or more after driving. Use a good trait tire gauge. Note: It's fluent for radial tires to have a slight bulge contained by the sidewall at their proper inflation pressure. Check or adjust inflation every few weeks, before any long trip or if traveling next to a heavy nouns. And don't forget to check the spare. Your Goodyear retailer can answer any questions you may own about tire inflation."

Contrary to popular myth (widely spread around here) inflation pressures do not modify if you put a different brand of tire on your car. Inflation requirements are determined by tire size, not brand. All tires of equal size, no matter who made them will enjoy the same inflation requirements.

Keep the tires inflated to the pressure contained by the manual, not the sidewall-this is max (on sidewall) and tire pessure will increase as tires win warm(driving).
