Silverstar Ultra?

About the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlights. They are Halogen Headlights. Are they really 20% brighter than standard halogen bulbs? If so, how did they accomplish this by using the same wattage and voltage?

Answers:    they are indeed brighter... my guess is that they are using a higher resistance filiment, generate more heat. More heat = more pale. However, it is worth noting a few troubles of these bulbs.

1) They will draw more power, and thus make a tiny ding surrounded by fuel economy. But worth mentioning.

2) They are HOT! They often can de-ice plastic components inside cars that are not designed for such heat. Case in point, the driver headlight on my truck.

3) They start out brighter, but they will largely dim faster than conventional bulbs. So to keep up the light output, you must replace them more regularly. It's not noticable really, but drive for a few months, then put in freshly one new one. It's pretty amazing.
