so i sprayed it with belt dressing. and it worked for a little bit presently it does it again. it does only do it in the drizzling weather but it bothers me. is this expensive to fix or can i do it myself.
Nice Rach, Besides belt dressing, I've have luck with soaking surpentine belts with wd-40.It cost's a bunch smaller amount to buy a gal. at your parts store( & a spray bottle ). Also, check the alignment of your tensioner, if so equiped, if it's out of alignment at the piviot point, she needs replacing. =^ )
The belt is probably getting behind the times and glazed. The glazed surface doesnt allow the belt to grab onto the pulleys like it should.
Try to tighten up the belt by putting more stiffness on it. You can do this by loosening up the alternator, prying the alternator as tight as you can, and then tightening the alternator bolts. It helps to own a buddy do the prying.
This will only buy you time though. You should change the belt.
