If I adjust my steering angle to the upamost reach I get a noticable knock through my steering column, but if I adjust the steering angle below the upper level the knock disapears, I've recently notice in slow moving traffic I get the have a feeling of the steering wheel ocilating if I loosen the grip on the wheel. Is my steering rack or my steering column at bad habit.
If it simply happens when you adjust the steering column then I'd vote it's the column at fault. Take it to a garage or Vauxhall main contractor and ask them to investigate the fault.
Answers: Hi there, These collapsible steering systems are built with a small amount of tolerance built surrounded by, as no system could operate properly if built without it. Over a period of use the column components do wear and audible knock will be heard and oscillation will be felt. This wear will be more adjectives in the uni joints at the top and bottom of the column and Vauxhall's are specified for it especially Vectra's but not heard so many of the Astra's giving problems simply 1 or 2 but that might be because I work in a Nissan dealership.
Hope this helps.
