Just got a 1995 Chevy Astro. I'm waiting for a manual to be deliver to my home but I have a question:
Does the 1995 Chevy Astro adopt Synthetic ATF fluid for the transmission? I would assume this would be OK.
Any thoughts? What about motor grease?

ATF stands for Automatic Transmission Fluid. If you have an Automatic, then explicitly what you should use. What he is talking about is for brochure transmissions only. It will ruin an Automatic Transmission, as will motor oil.
As far as Synthetic or not, if it's call for, use only that. If regular ATF is called for, Synthetic would probably be OK too, but it could enjoy compatibility issues. I'd check with a few experts at dealers or trans shops first, or basically stick with what's recommended.

I would definitely make sure the shop drops the jar, cleans it out, and installs a new filter.
