Does anyone know what could be wrong? The heat still comes out hot even though the gauge read cold. If I turn the heat off the calculate will begin to work and read as normal.

Answers: shift the thermostat . a bad thermostat will make the engine run cooler than usual . using the electric fire cools the engine even more . that is why the temperature creaps up when not using the space heater .
