Today it's about 30 degrees outside and I turned on my sports car for the first time today and as I started driving the temp guage rose all the way to 260 and for a time past. Within 20 seconds it lowered final down to 140-150. I waited a long time for the heater to finally reheat up. When it did it only lasted a while. Now, it solitary gets warm when the saloon is moving. When I come to a stop it get's cold. While I'm at a traffic signal the temp guage goes up to the red. It has a "Message Center" which give you a lot of different mechanical hiccup messages and so on. When the temp reaches 260 there isn't any sort of notification message. The manual for the car say it should say "Hot Coolant Temp" in the event of an overheating engine. I'm not getting such a messge, but the calculate shows it's over heating.
I can hear the fans see on when it gets above the half sucker of the temp gauge. But it keeps going till it reach 260.
Any idea of what could be wrong? SWITCH OUT YOUR TSTAT, AND ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BOTH THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ANTIFREEZE, AND THE RIGHT MIXTURE OF WATER/ANTIFREEZE. WHT I'M HEARING FROM WHAT YOU WROTE IS THAT YOUR COOLANT TURNED TO SLUSH DO TO POOR MIXTURE RATIO, IT SHOULD BE 50/50. YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE TOO MUCH WATER, AND IT THINNED OUT THE ANTIFREEZE, CAUSING IT TO SLUSH. YOU MIGHT WANT TO FLUSAH OUT THE RADIATOR WHILE YOU'RE REPLACING THE COOLANT
