Those w/ experience, please read and any warning?

I have a Ford Ranger 88, 2.3 L engine, manual tranny...it's a no-interference engine, which ability there shouldn't be any damage resulting from timing belt breaking. It broke and I've replaced it.only just wanted to see if it would start up before putting everything stern in (water pump,radiator,alternator)...but it doesn't even turn over. I've set everything dead-on.my friend said to start I have to turn distributor panama differently than my manual recommends for timing.panicky to try because I don't want to damage anything.but it does nothing, no spark, zilch. I switched out battery with a charged one and set up cable to another vehicle to start, in case it wasn't getting ample power w/o alternator. Any ideas? Everything else seems resembling before.Does anyone know also if theres a certain setting for the auxillary shaft sprocket?

Maintenance required street lamp?

Turnning over and running are two different problems. If it wont turn over and you don't hold the alternator on you probably don't have the ground wire from the battery-operated bolted to the engine. This would not allow the starter to turn the engine over. Check this first. The truck should at least turn over even if the timing belt was completely missing although i wouldn't recommend this. Make sure adjectives the wiring is connected. I would even put the alternator back on and plug it contained by before trying to turn it over. hope this helps you

Is it possible to put an third...

if the timing belt broke, the crank would turn over, but not the cam. did you replace the belt?, if so did you bring back the marks lined up?on the crank, it should be TDC, and the cam, theres a guage hole, you have need of to put something like a drill bit in the hole to preserve the cam from turning, until you get the belt on, but still you should have spark.check the module and pick-up coil.

Answers:    If it does not turn over at adjectives it sounds like a problem with battery-operated cables ,lack of ground to the motor or check the indeterminate safety switch located on the clutch pedal. You can test the switch by unplugging the switch and putting a pullover wire between the two wires in the plug . But remember the truck will crank over surrounded by GEAR now be sure its in colourless. Also check the starter solenoid located on the fender well. the axillary does have a timing splodge on it but as long as the dist is firing the correct spark plug at top dead center on the compression stroke in will run
