Answers:    Usually the bearing or bushings fail due to extreme heat cause by a plugged cooler. Or the one-way clutch freezes up making the converter multiply all the time again creating extreme heat. Also the one-way can bust and freewheel cause the converter not to multiply causing sluggish performance and warmth . The converter's # 1 enemy!
