Yeah there's a powered linkage in your brake system that is stuck right very soon. Did this just happen not long?

You can live with this just by applying the parking brake when you are parked. Unless if you want to spend the money for the repair.

The lock components on my glove compartment...

There'sa park "pawl' that keep it from rolling, only accessible by dropping the pan.
if it be the safety neutral switch, you could start it within gear. unhook the linkage from the tranny and put the tranny in park and see if it holds, if it holds, then its the linkage is rotten, or the cable is stretched.

Answers:    The parking "Paw" in the tail shaft of the nouns may be worn.

This is some thing a home mechanic can fix on transmission.

Get a book on chevy transmissions at the parts store it will show the place it is located.

If you bear this to a shop it will cost a lot . for a pretty simple repair that it is.

You will have to disconnect the drive shaft . un-bolt the backside tailshaft housing of the transmission and inside you will see the parking gear on the shaft and the "Paw" normally on the tail shaft housing. It's pretty simple and a "tonka" of a repair.

Theres not tons transmission repairs a home mechanic can do. other then adjustment and mounts filter/fluid changes.

This is another that can be fixed. Dont forget to replace the paper gasket on the tail shaft housing go rebolting it back in place.
