Hello, question. Can you whip the same motor for your vehicle thats mounted standard and put like motor in i.e. out of a tranverse mounted vehicle? I have a 1992 4runner next to the 3vze mounted standard ( the belts ore all facing forward) and am looking at one and the same motor out of the same year camry merely it is transverse mounted ( belts are pointing toward pass side of vehicle) how much work if any is it to put that tot in my 4runner standard mounted thank you!
Answers: In auxiliary to needing to engineer sure you can get the frills to fit (alternator, a/c compressor, p/s pump...), your biggest concern is getting oil to the engine.
A transverse engine may own the oil pick-up tube and grease pan designed specifically for the application. Swapping within a different engine can often hold dire consequences if you do not change these two items.
What comes to mind is the popular example of the nissan maximum to nissan pathfinder engine swaps. Same engine, different oil pick-ups, grease pans, paraphernalia, intake and a few sensors. Many mechanics I know have not thought to silver the oil pickup and vessel during these swaps... with appalling consequences. Oil starvation causing an engine buoyant at best, the seizing of an engine at worst.
I'm enduring that you can use that engine, you would just entail to swap over alot of parts, like the intake and exhaust manifolds, belt pulley(s), motor mounts, etc; probably the flexplate as capably. Your best place to check would be a wrecking yard, they could articulate for certain. Good luck... and don't forget the nitrous oxide injection system!
