Truck sound out?

my 86 chevy silverado's battery will not hold a charge. i'm pretty sure it has something to do near the solenoid. cuz the 20 amp fuse for the solenoid keeps blowing when i turn the ign. switch on. Can my solenoid be draining my battery somehow? How do i check to see if my solenoid is still moral?

Repair Estimates on a '96 BMW Z3...

Are you sure you are using the correct fuse?

As far as I know, a starter requires over 90amp to start a car, but seeing this is a larger engine, it would require much more.
"Battery Will Not Hold A Charge"; Remove Battery and have it Fully Charged, After the Charge own it "Load Tested" at 50% of CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) for 15 Seconds, not dropping below 9.6 Volts during the Test, this will show you if the Battery can Take and Hold a Charge.

"Blowing the 20 Amp Fuse for the Ignition System"; Have the Starter Tested for Excessive Draw! that is what will Blow the Fuse, Also check to see if the Contacts (Terminals) on the Starter or Starter Solenoid are Burnt?

"Draining Battery"; Most likely if your Battery is individual Drained it's Bad Diode(s) in the Alternator! Have it "Load Tested" to make sure it is puting out the Listed Amperage, Low Output Means Bad Diode(s) that Will Drain your Battery even near everything turned off.

How do I hold the river out...

Your solenoid have nothing to do with any fuse, if your fuse is blowing when you turn switch on but NOT turning to start, then you need to find out what the fuse is for. They use crank fuses on newer vehicle, but not an 86 chev truck.

Answers:    I think you have an alternator problem.
Not sure what fuse you are conversation about, but the starter solenoid isn't fused.
There are fusible links in the harness by the starter.
