This is a very adjectives question. Let me set you straight on a couple of things because some of the folks you are going to hear from are going to be pretty biased one mode or the other.

First lets start near the Supercharger. Like a Turbo Charger a Supercharger forces air into the intake paperwork system of your vehicle. It does this by adding a pully to your crankshaft and a belt to the Supercharger Pully. As the engine is turning over it spins the compressor vanes contained by the supercharger housing to create boost pressure in the intake numerous. Sounds pretty good right??

Well in attendance are some drawbacks with a Supercharger. The first drawback is that any extra horsepower it makes is going to be lattice the power needed to operate the Supercharger. Normally an average of 10 to 15 horses. Second, a Supercharger requires changing the intake compound and all of the intake plumbing of the engine for its installation. If you are that experienced near their installation, this can not only be completely time consuming, but problematic as well.

Now let move on to the Turbo Charger. The Turbo Charger perform the same function as the Supercharger but building boost pressure within your intake system. However, how it makes this boost pressure is different. The Turbo uses exhaust gasses from your engine to operate the compressor vanes. This way there is no physical nouns between the compressor vanes and the engine's crankshaft, and no horsepower loss.

You are going to read that Turbo-Chargers have a clear in your mind amount of lag time. In the crust of older unit this would be true. However, the new Turbos hare what is call a Dual Phase type Turbo.

They are equipped with a smaller set of compressor vanes that allow the Turbo to create boost at lower Engine RPM level than before. It used to be true that your engine have to be turning at greater than 2000 RPM before the Turbo be assisting in creating power. No so in a minute.

Turbo Charger now operate and create boost at lower RPM ranges that are more adjectives to today's driving conditions.

But here is the real lead with a Turbo. You do not own to make a primary engine modification to your vehicle in lay down to install it. You simply change the exhaust manifold(s), join a oil routing adapter, (directly from your Oil Filter mount), and variation the intake plumbing. Its a very fast changeover.

But take this from one Camaro owner to another. Personally calculation this type of system to a car resembling what you have is really not essential. More to the point its overkill.

I have a 1996 Z-28. Love the vehicle, and lift very upright care of my Lady! What I enjoy added to it is a set of headers and a complete Borla exhaust system. I also installed a K&N Cold Air Induction System and chipped the ECM. This also involved a Fuel Injector change which I have done at our local speed shop in this nouns. The ignition system has also be changed from the stock system to an GM Performance Parts System.

What I shot for was a 350 Horse, 350 CID engine. What I get was 375 Horses, and a in one piece lotta fun. All of this was done short adding a Turbo Charger or a Supercharger. I simply run Super Unleaded Fuel.

I also changed out the cam to a Roller Cam, Roller Lifters, and Roller Rockers. All from GM Perfromance Parts. I did this to reduce the internal frictional forces that typical Push Rod V-8's are pleagued by.

Just for the register, as much fun as my Camaro is, I also own a TRD Edition Scion Tc. Though its a 2.4L 161 Hp stock out of the box, the addition of the TRD Equipment have turned this little 4 banger into a very formitable antagonist to my Camaro. Its all roughly speaking the power to weight ratio. Yes the Tc is supercharged, and it is in a minute boasting 282 horses with traction control and its guide transmission, it smokes my Camaro within the launch. However, in the long stop of the race the Camaro will prevail because of the final gear ratio provided at the joystick.

In all, its really going to depend on what you are doing near the vehicle. Just keep surrounded by mind that the more horsepower you demand, the more fuel its going to require to win the job done. Admittedly, neither one of these vehicle is really considered fuel efficent by any means.

That's why my day by day driver is a 1996 S-10 with a 2.2L 4 cylinder engine.
