I have a 99 Chevy silverado ext cab 4.8L 4x4. Its continues to wane when I first start it and take off right away, it bucks and kick and backfires 7out or 10 times . If I let it decline for about 3 mins then cart off no probs at all. I enjoy done the routine maintenance to it. Plugs, wires, oil regulation, fuel filter, air filter etc. Their is no Check engine light on when this happen. It seems to be worse in radiator weather. This has been going on for 2 yrs immediately and im about sick of it, time to fix the problem.
What can I do to fix it my self? I do most of my repairs. What could it be? Would a Garage be able to find the prob on their computer or is it a squander of money?? Without check engine lt, shops computer is worthless! I would think have to do with air intake or sensors. U could own bad co2 sensor on exhaust, it might not be kickin your chk eng. lite on!!

yeah my 93 mustang did the same entry its most likely the ignition coil and my check engine light never come on and that was the problem espicialy with the warmness in utah 115 degres and check the timing just surrounded by case also check spark plug wires,distubitor cap,rotor and possibly the injectors not enough fuel GOOD LUCK its nothing big so dont verbs.
This could be a transmission torque converter problem. You could enjoy a faulty ignition coil and/or plug wires and connections.

Answers: it could be the timing is off a little, if nearby is no check engine light on then the computer they run it on wouldnt find the problem, own you smogged it yet? sometimes the smog guy will print out a sheet of why its bucking and back firing. depends on the the place. my brother deformity wasnt passing smog and there be no check engine light, and it wasnt running right. the timing was sour just a tad, i adjusted it and it passed smog.
its approaching a dyno run. good luck

sometimes of late removing it and cleaning it with carb cleaner will fix this type of problem being dirty cause false readings to the computer
but try getting your gas elsewhere
maybe a delivery of bad gas (water)
