Answers:    When you turn to a shop, a tune up consist of checking and inspecting but you really only obtain spark plugs. In the old days they would adjust your timing and carburetor adapt your cap, rotor, wires, points and condenser, but presently days there's no adjustment. If you read the fine print, it says any other parts needed is extra and labor needed to install the parts are extra.

Basic tune up (spark plugs) is $25-$80 depending how desperate they want to rip you off.

Your Corolla is one of the easiest cars to work on. Especially the plugs, sou`wester, rotor and wires. Everything is up front and on top.

I know a lot of associates don't want to work on their own car but you can put aside a lot of money by doing it yourself, or at lowest possible knowing how and what's being done and why.

important tune up would be spark plugs and plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Some supply fuel and air filter, fuel injector cleaners and check timing. In elder cars the carburetor settings were checked too.
