Hi,
I've got a toyota Starlet (1991) which allover sudden showed two preventive lights at start-up:
*(!)-warning light indicating problem beside brakes, and:
*Battery/discharge warning wispy indicating problem with (charging) the mobile
Checked the brake-flued level, be okay. Cleaned the battery connectors. Then took out the big (three point) connector-plug at the dynamo, turned ignition push button to "ON" and both warning lights be NOT on anymore.
Did a little interview that is supposed to detail if the problem lies with the mobile or with the alternator: Started the saloon (without a problem) and unplugged the negative side of the freestyle. When you do that and the car dies, consequently you know it is the alternator-side that is cause the problem.
The battery itself give out a 12.63 Voltage when the car is not running, and a 12.23 Voltage when it is running (without lights on and such..).
Could any be the ALTERNATOR, the WIRING, or the VOLTAGE REGULATOR.
Please help,
Regards,

Answers: When you start the coup¨¦ the voltage must go UP to at smallest 13.5 - 14 volts. If you take the plug out of the fund of the alternator, it should run a little faster. Put it support in, it should slow down. If it doesn't, it's probably a impossible alternator.
needs a current alternator
